Band and Chorus
Band
The CLS Band Program starts mid-year in the 4th grade. After learning the recorder in their weekly music classes, 4th grade students can sign-up to play a band instrument if they are interested. Instruments offered for instruction are: flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone and percussion (xylophone and drum). Students will receive a 30 minute group lesson during the school day and will need to make up the classroom work they missed. A 4th grade recorder and band program will be held in June for families to attend.
In 5th and 6th grade, band students will have a weekly group lesson AND a weekly full band rehearsal. Students who did not play an instrument in 4th grade are still able to sign up as 5th or 6th graders and will join their peers once they have learned the skills needed. Many performances are done throughout the year, including the Holiday Concert, Spring Concert and Memorial Day Program.
Chorus
Chorus is made up of students in grades 4-6 at CLS who love to sing. They learn from a variety of genres and perform at several concerts throughout the year.
